Hurry! hurry! Free Jess and Jack JISC TechDis voices to disappear from HEA/Excellence Gateway sites at the of August
The two voices developed by Cereproc can still be downloaded for use on Training or educational organisation servers and sites.
Jess and Jack, are natural-sounding synthetic voices for text-to-speech. Commissioned from CereProc by Jisc TechDis a few years ago. Available on the HE Academy website
The Voices are still currently available but only until the end of August, after which Voices can continue to be used across a college network or by learners at home.
The Voices improve the experience of using Text to Speech which can make a huge difference to anyone with a print impairment, dyslexia and those with literacy or language issues, because it helps with both understanding and accuracy. Text To Speech technology also allows text to be saved as MP3, enabling people to listen when it suits them; whilst traveling, exercising, multi-tasking, at work or at home - so TTS can really support flexible delivery and has benefits for almost everyone.
