A free Daisy 2.02 talking book player for Windows with speech support
This software has been specifically designed to run all types of Daisy books and offers access to audio and text for those who are blind, have visual impairments or specific learning difficulties including dyslexia. It may also help all those who read text on a screen - the voices can be those supplied by the computer's speech synthesiser or recorded speech.
A simple interface with buttons that look like those found on a recorder plus access to menus via keyboard or mouse. All actions are spoken with a faintly Swedish female voice if the English version is downloaded. This voice cannot be changed but it can be speeded up and the text can be enlarged. The system allows for text to be picked out by a black line box as it is read - this cannot be changed to a colour and there are no background colour changes available. The voices used depend on the type of Daisy format set by the book's publisher or document's creator. The software works with Jaws once additional scripts have been added.
The software will allow you to search for Daisy (.DTB) books on your system or on the web and to set up a personal library. Support for the program has been discontinued but the website provides some information.
Windows XP or later - 12.1MB with speech support for installation. Download but no support http://tpb-reader.software.informer.com/
